Today is the day we are hoping to figure out what the heck is going on in my daughter’s GI tract. She has missed almost 1/3 of her 7th grade year and now that school is out and the GI doctor told us that she would like to test her for fructose malabsorption.
This sounds great to me! Finally there may be an answer to why my kid spends so much time in the bathroom and looks like she swallowed a basketball. To my daughter, the thought of eliminating another food is daunting.
She is already gluten free, dairy free and newly grain free. She has been gluten free since she was 2 (she is now 13), dairy free for about 6 months and grain free for about 1 month. The grain free diet, mostly paleo, has helped a lot but still isn’t enough.
We decided to create No More Fruity Farts as part therapy for us and part helpful guide for everyone else on this journey.
I’ll be writing my story as a parent trying to navigate the low-fructose system as well as recipes that have worked well. My daughter will be writing about her daily struggles and successes and hopefully will become an amazing and adventurous cook on our journey and can share her recipes with you too!
We hope you can learn from our journey and find some help for your own journey on the path to No More Fruity Farts…
